Wonderland
The wonderful land that Alice found
In a hole, under a tree trunk
Was not as wonderful as she had imagined.
Even there,
There were people enslaved to watches,
Foolishly stuck in a sea of muddy vanity
And arrogant queens who killed their subjects.
But when she opened her eyes and returned
To the plain world she had left behind,
She created a fantasy land
That made real people envy her.
(You know, kids like to tell tall stories...)
